Daymaker for HubSpot

Set up the HubSpot app

Research a thoughtful gift for any contact without leaving HubSpot, send a hand-delivered cake from a workflow, and keep the people and companies you work in Daymaker matched to their HubSpot records.

What the app does

  • A research tab on every contact record. Daymaker reads the public web about the person and suggests a gift with the reasons behind it. The result is written onto the contact as Daymaker properties and added to the contact's timeline.
  • Two workflow actions. Research with Daymaker starts the same research for every contact a workflow enrolls. Send Daymaker cake orders a custom cake, baked by a local bakery and delivered by hand, for the enrolled contact or the deal's contact.
  • Import. Bring HubSpot contacts, a HubSpot list, or your companies into Daymaker, through a field mapping you choose. Companies become Accounts, matched by domain, and each company gets a link back to its account. Importing companies is available once Accounts are turned on for your Daymaker account.
  • Staying in step. When a contact is edited, merged or deleted in HubSpot, or a company is renamed or deleted, Daymaker follows.

Importing never spends anything. Research and cakes are only started by you, the card, or a workflow you build.

Before you start

  • A Daymaker account. Sign up at daymaker.com/customer if you do not have one.
  • You are the owner or an admin of that Daymaker account. Connections decide where the whole account's CRM data goes, so members cannot make them.
  • In HubSpot, a user who can install apps in the portal (a super admin, or a user with App Marketplace access).
  • Workflow actions need a HubSpot plan with workflows (Professional or Enterprise).

Install and connect

  1. Sign in to Daymaker and open Settings, then Integrations.
  2. On the HubSpot row, press Connect. You are sent to HubSpot.
  3. Choose the HubSpot account to connect, review the permissions listed under Permissions and data, and press Connect app.
  4. HubSpot sends you back to Daymaker, and the HubSpot row shows your portal's ID and when it was connected.

You can also install from HubSpot's side. When the email on your Daymaker account matches the HubSpot user who installed the app, an owner or admin who opens Settings, then Integrations is offered the portal; press This one is ours. If the emails differ, connect from Daymaker instead, or write to contact@daymaker.com. Until the portal is claimed, nothing is synced.

If Settings ever shows Reconnect to grant a permission, a newer feature needs a permission your install did not include. Press Reconnect and approve again; nothing already in Daymaker is lost. A note that says to reconnect to link imported companies back to their accounts is optional: everything else keeps working until you do.

Research a gift on a contact

  1. Open any contact record in HubSpot.
  2. Open the Research a gift tab in the middle of the record. If you do not see it, customize the record's tabs and add it.
  3. Pick the campaign, the research depth and a gift price, and press Research a gift. The card shows progress and, when it is done, the gift idea, why it fits, and a research map.
  4. Press Save as HubSpot note to keep the result on the record as a note.

Research uses your Daymaker research credits. The same results appear on the contact's timeline and in Daymaker's People screen, so anyone on your team sees them in either place.

Workflow actions

In HubSpot, open Automation, then Workflows, and add an action. Both Daymaker actions are listed under Daymaker.

Research with Daymaker

Choose a research depth and a gift price. Every contact the workflow enrolls is researched, and the result lands on the contact's Daymaker properties and timeline. The action's outputs (whether it started, and why not if it did not) can branch the rest of the workflow.

Send Daymaker cake

Choose the cake, the size, the delivery date and a personal message, and whether each order needs approval. Works on contact and deal workflows; a deal uses its first associated contact.

  • The delivery address comes from the contact, then the contact's company. When neither has one, Daymaker looks for the company's office address, and if it still has none it asks the recipient by email.
  • Payment uses your Daymaker credit first, then your card on file, then a payment link sent to you.
  • Every change in the order (placed, waiting for payment, waiting for an address, not placed) is added to the contact's timeline.

Monthly limit on cakes

Orders that skip approval are placed only while they fit under a monthly limit you set in Daymaker: Settings, Integrations, under What your CRM syncs, the field Cakes a workflow can send without approval, per month. With no limit set, no cake is placed automatically. A cake over the limit, or with no limit set, waits for the Daymaker team to review it; write to contact@daymaker.com to have it sent or cancelled.

Import contacts and companies

  1. In Daymaker, open Settings, then Integrations, and press Import from HubSpot on the HubSpot row.
  2. Pick the source: All contacts, one of your HubSpot lists, or All companies, as Accounts.
  3. Check the field mapping. Each HubSpot property on the right fills the Daymaker field on the left, and you can point any field at a custom property. Press Save mapping.
  4. Press Preview first page to see exactly what will come in.
  5. Pick where the people or accounts should land, then press Import. You can press Stop at any time; while the panel stays open, Continue import picks up where it stopped.

A contact that is already in Daymaker is linked, not copied, so importing again, from the start, never makes duplicates. A company becomes the account for its domain; its HubSpot contacts who are already in Daymaker join that account, and the company's Daymaker account property links straight to it.

What stays in step

In HubSpotIn Daymaker
A contact's name, email, job title, company or LinkedIn URL changesThe person's details are updated

Daymaker stores the HubSpot records you import or research, the link between each one and its HubSpot record, and the access tokens HubSpot issues for your portal, which are never shown in Daymaker or written to logs. Terms: daymaker.com/terms. Privacy: daymaker.com/privacy.

Disconnect and uninstall

In Daymaker, open Settings, then Integrations, and press Disconnect on the HubSpot row. Daymaker stops all syncing, deletes its stored access, and asks HubSpot to remove the app from your account. If HubSpot does not confirm, Daymaker tells you to finish on HubSpot's Connected apps page. If you uninstall from that page yourself, Daymaker finds out the next time it uses the connection and shows Reconnect on the HubSpot row.

Research, people and accounts already in Daymaker stay in your Daymaker account. The Daymaker properties already written to HubSpot records stay in HubSpot until you delete them there.

Support

Email contact@daymaker.com or use daymaker.com/contact. Support is in English. Tell us your HubSpot portal ID (shown on the HubSpot row in Settings) and we can look at exactly what happened.
